Historical Context

Haitian Union of Polytechnic Schools and Professional Centers (UNHECEP)
The Haitian Union of Polytechnic Schools and Professional Centers (UNHECEP) is a Haitian organization created following a resolution by the Polytechnic School at Queensland University, located in Tabarre behind the United States Embassy, which has been targeted by armed gangs. Its mandate is to support professional and skills development and to promote policies that favor technical and vocational education and training in vulnerable urban and rural areas of Haiti.
Since its creation in 2023, UNHECEP has brought together more than seven vocational and polytechnic educational institutions located in three regions of Haiti affected by armed gangs: the West Department, Port-au-Prince, Artibonite, and the Central Low Plateau. Membership in UNHECEP demonstrates a well-integrated profile of polytechnic schools, polytechnic institutes and professional technical centers focused on acquiring knowledge and skills for the world of work in Haiti.

Vision

To be an influential voice in Haiti for promoting skills development for wealth creation.

Mission
To provide a dynamic forum to:
- gather, test, and share innovative ideas in technical and vocational education and training through conferences, workshops, and publications;
- promote partnerships and capacity-building initiatives; and
- analyze policies and advocate for skills development for wealth creation in Haiti.
The Haitian Union of Polytechnic Schools and Professional Centers (UNHECEP) seeks solidarity and cooperation to strengthen its capacity at the national and international levels.

As stated in our objectives:
To stimulate the exchange of experiences and ideas by providing a forum for discussion on topics of common interest and by organizing meetings, conferences, and seminars in various regions of Haiti.
To study and contribute to improving the content and teaching methods in polytechnic institutes and similar institutions, particularly their associated curricula, as well as to improving the organization and management of these institutions.
