Resumen
La Sociedad Haitiana de Geografía y Estadística (SOHAGE) fue la primera entidad que organizó la investigación científica en Haití y también el primer organismo institucional para el desarrollo y la práctica de la geografía y la estadística. Con motivo de su décimo aniversario de su creación durante el año 2010 como Instituto de Geografía y Estadística, este ensayo reflexiona sobre el papel que jugó el SOHAGE en la organización de la ciencia y la construcción de Haití.

Introducción
Para los geógrafos, la Sociedad Haitiana de Geografía y Estadística (SOHAGE) tiene un significado muy particular: representa la primera forma institucional específica para el desarrollo y la práctica de la geografía en Haití y muestra la importancia otorgada a la disciplina en el pasado, el progreso en Haití. .
Pero su influencia en la cultura haitiana fue mucho mayor, ya que SOHAGE apoyó el desarrollo de otras disciplinas científicas y colocó a Haití a la vanguardia del movimiento para institucionalizar la ciencia que caracterizó este siglo. De ahí el interés de celebrar los 12 años de existencia de la organización, presentando un breve análisis de su desempeño en el siglo XXI en Haití.

En cuanto al papel de la geografía en el progreso de Haití, consideremos por el momento que la Sociedad Haitiana de Geografía y Estadística (SOHAGE) fue fundada con el doble objetivo de construir la Carta de la República de Haití y elevar las estadísticas nacionales. Fueron tareas estratégicas y fundamentales para la consolidación del país como nación independiente desde el 1 de enero de 1804, cuya dificultad requirió la intervención de hombres de ciencia. Y como en ese momento la comunidad científica haitiana aún no estaba institucionalmente organizada y el desarrollo de la ciencia en Haití nunca se desarrolló, la nueva organización también funcionó como un medio para integrarla en torno a objetivos comunes.
Por otra parte, la complejidad de los objetivos que le dieron vida permitió a la Sociedad adaptarse al amplio espectro de intereses de sus miembros y, en poco tiempo, al ámbito de la corporación, en cuanto a las disciplinas que se estudian en su seno. había superado los límites establecidos por sus creadores. Así, SOHAGE se convirtió en la primera entidad en organizar la investigación científica en Haití, al tiempo que funcionaba como el único organismo institucional para el desarrollo y la práctica de la geografía en el país en colaboración con la Academia Hispagnola de Ciencias de Haití (HASH): www.academy-sciencesht.org

La organización de la ciencia en el siglo XXI en Haití
Para abordar la inserción de la Sociedad Haitiana de Geografía y Estadística en el movimiento occidental por la institucionalización de las ciencias, corresponde hacer un breve preámbulo para subrayar las principales características del proceso:

En primer lugar, vale la pena recordar que el surgimiento de la ciencia como institución dentro de la estructura social es uno de los acontecimientos que marcan el futuro del pensamiento y la práctica científica en el siglo XIX. Fue entonces cuando los gobiernos y las grandes empresas tomaron conciencia del papel que desempeñaba la ciencia en el desarrollo tecnológico y el progreso económico y se vieron llevados a diseñar políticas destinadas a promover el desarrollo científico en todo el mundo. Por su parte, los científicos que participaron en estos desarrollos -o que aspiran a hacerlo- aprovecharon la situación para promover individual y colectivamente la creación de espacios adecuados para la práctica de su trabajo. Gracias a la concertación de estas dos intenciones, a lo largo del siglo XIX se multiplicaron las asociaciones científicas y comenzaron a formarse nuevas instituciones de investigación.

La Sociedad Haitiana de Geografía y Estadística (SOHAGE) es la primera en el Caribe y la última en nacer después del terremoto de magnitud 7,5 que el 12 de enero de 2010 azotó Haití, fundada el 8 de marzo de 2010. Con el apoyo del Centro Haitiano de Geografía y Estadística (CEHAGE) de la Universidad Queensland (UQ) Haití, ha invadido todas las áreas del conocimiento humano: ciencias, artes, letras, estudios socioeconómicos, aportando soluciones, iniciativas y datos; resolver cuestiones de interés nacional con un sistema profundamente humanista, con el único objetivo de servir a la comunidad haitiana en general. Uno de sus principales logros fue haber tomado iniciativas para que la sociedad o el gobierno haitiano dictaran leyes para determinar los nombres geográficos de los pueblos y otras aldeas de Haití, creando así la primera carta general en 1804 con la fundación de la isla de Haití.

La Sociedad Haitiana de Geografía y Estadística (SOHAGE) fue fundada después del terremoto de magnitud 7,5 que azotó Haití el 12 de enero de 2010.

Miembros
El ciudadano Josper Joseph Jr. y la rectora de la Universidad Queensland Haití, Dr. Jean-Claude Dorsainvil, el fundador de la Universidad Queensland Haití fue el presidente fundador de la asociación y el primer editor del Boletín si hay posibilidades financieras.

Objetivos
Había dos objetivos principales:
- Construir la Carta de la República de Haití, reformada o no, y compilar estadísticas nacionales para la consolidación de Haití como nación independiente desde el año 1804.
- Analizar los principales problemas del país y, con ello, presentar a las autoridades correspondientes las alternativas para su solución si surge la necesidad.
La Sociedad Haitiana de Geografía y Estadística (SOHAGE) está dispuesta a colaborar con organizaciones nacionales e internacionales interesadas en cooperar con SOHAGE.

Abstract
The Haitian Society of Geography and Statistics (HASOG) was the first entity to organize scientific research in Haiti and also the first institutional body for the development and practice of geography and statistics. On the occasion of its tenth anniversary of its creation in the year 2010 as the Haitian Center of Geography and Statistics at Queensland University, this essay reflects on the role that the HASOG has played in the organization of science and the construction of Haiti.

Introduction
For geographers, the Haitian Society of Geography and Statistics (HASOHG) has a very special meaning: it represents the first specific institutional form for the development and practice of geography in Haiti and shows the importance given to the discipline in the past, the progress in Haiti.

But its influence on Haitian culture was much greater, since the HASOG supported the development of other scientific disciplines and placed Haiti at the forefront of the movement of institutionalization of science that characterized this century. Hence the interest in celebrating the 12 years of existence of the organization, by presenting a brief analysis of its performance in the 21st century in Haiti.

Regarding the role of geography in the progress of Haiti, let us consider for now that the Haitian Society of Geography and Statistics (HASOG) was founded with the dual objective of building the Charter of the Republic of Haiti and raising national statistics. These were strategic and fundamental tasks for the consolidation of the country as an independent nation since January 1, 1804, whose difficulty required the intervention of scientists. And since at that time the Haitian scientific community was not yet institutionally organized and the development of science in Haiti never developed, the new organization also functioned as a means of integrating it around common objectives.
On the other hand, the complexity of the objectives that gave it life allowed the Society to adapt to the wide range of interests of its members and, in a short time, the scope of the corporation, in terms of disciplines studied within it, had exceeded the limits established by its creators. Thus, HASOG became the first entity to organize scientific research in Haiti, while functioning as the only institutional body for the development and practice of geography in the country in collaboration with the Hispagnola Academy of Sciences of Haiti (HASH): www.academy-sciencesht.org.

The Organization of Science in the 21st Century in Haiti

To address the insertion of the Haitian Society of Geography and Statistics (HASOG) in the Western movement of institutionalization of science, it is appropriate to make a brief preamble to highlight the main characteristics of the process:
First, it is appropriate to recall that the emergence of science as an institution within the social structure is one of the events that mark the future of scientific thought and practice in the 19th century. It was then that governments and large companies became aware of the role that science played in technological development and economic progress and were led to design policies aimed at promoting scientific development throughout the world. For their part, scientists who participated in these developments - or who aspire to do so - took advantage of the situation to promote individually and collectively the creation of adequate spaces for the practice of their work. Thanks to the concertation of these two intentions, throughout the 19th century, scientific associations multiplied and new research institutions began to form. The Haitian Society of Geography and Statistics (SOHGES) is the first in the Caribbean and the last to be born after the 7.5 magnitude earthquake of January 12, 2010 that struck Haiti, founded on March 8, 2010. With the support of the Haitian Center for Geography and Statistics (HACEGS) of the Queensland University (UQ) Haiti, it has invaded all areas of human knowledge: sciences, arts, letters, socio-economic studies, providing solutions, initiatives and data; solving problems of national interest with a deeply humanistic system, with the sole aim of serving the Haitian community in general. One of their major achievements was to have taken initiatives for the Haitian society or government to issue laws to determine the geographical names of cities and other villages in Haiti, thus creating the first general charter in 1804 with the founding of the island of Haiti.

Citizen Josper Joseph J., graduate of Queensland University and State University of Haiti, and the Rector of the Queensland University Haiti, Mr. Jean-Claude Dorsainvil, the founder of the Queensland University Haiti was the founding president of the association and the first editor of the Bulletin if there is financial possibility.

Objectives
There were two main objectives:

À l’occasion de son dixième anniversaire de sa création au cours de l'année 2010 en tant qu’Institut de géographie et de statistique, cet essai réfléchit sur le rôle qu’a joué le SOHGES dans l’organisation de la science et la construction d’Haiti.

Pour les géographes, la Société Haïtienne de Géographie et de Statistique (SOHGES) a une signification très particulière : elle représente la première forme institutionnelle spécifique pour le développement et la pratique de la géographie en Haïti et montre l'importance accordée à la discipline dans le passé, les progrès en Haïti.
Mais son influence sur la culture haïtienne fut bien plus grande, puisque le SOHGES soutenait le développement d’autres disciplines scientifiques et plaçait Haïti à l’avant-garde du mouvement d’institutionnalisation de la science qui caractérisa ce siècle. D'où l'intérêt de célébrer les 12 ans d'existence de l'organisation, en présentant une brève analyse de ses performances au XXIe siècle en Haïti.

En ce qui concerne le rôle de la géographie dans le progrès d'Haïti, considérons pour l'instant que la Société Haïtienne de Géographie et de Statistique a été fondée avec le double objectif de construire la Charte de la République d'Haïti et d'élever les statistiques nationales. Il s’agissait de tâches stratégiques et fondamentales pour la consolidation du pays en tant que nation indépendante depuis le 1 Janvier 1804, dont la difficulté nécessitait l’intervention d’hommes de science. Et comme à cette époque la communauté scientifique Haïtienne n’était pas encore organisée institutionnellement et le développement de la science en Haïti ne se développe jamais, la nouvelle organisation fonctionnait également comme un moyen de l’intégrer autour d’objectifs communs.

D'autre part, la complexité des objectifs qui lui ont donné vie a permis à la Société de s'adapter au large éventail d'intérêts de ses membres et, en peu de temps, à l'envergure de la corporation, en termes de disciplines étudiées en son sein, avait dépassé les limites établies par ses créateurs. Ainsi, la SOHGES est devenu la première entité à organiser la recherche scientifique en Haïti, tout en fonctionnant comme le seul organisme institutionnel pour le développement et la pratique de la géographie dans le pays en collaboration avec Hispagnola Academy of Sciences of Haiti (HASH) : www.academy-sciencesht.org .

L’Organisation de la Science au 21eme siècle en Haïti

La Société Haïtienne de Géographie et de Statistique (SOHGES) est la première dans la Caraïbe et la dernière à prendre naissance après le tremblement de terre de magnitude 7.5 du 12 Janvier 2010 qui a frappé Haïti, fondée le 08 mars 2010. Avec le soutien du Centre Haitien de Géographie et de Statistique (CEHGES) de l'Université Queensland (UQ) Haïti, elle a envahi tous les domaines de la connaissance humaine : sciences, arts, lettres, études socio-économiques, fournissant des solutions, des initiatives et des données ; résoudre les problèmes d'intérêt national avec un système profondément humaniste, dans le seul but de servir la communauté haïtienne en général. L'une de leurs principales réalisations a été d'avoir pris des initiatives pour que la société haïtienne ou le gouvernement publie des lois pour déterminer les noms géographiques des villes et autres villages d'Haïti, créant ainsi la première charte générale en 1804 avec la fondation de l'île d'Haïti.
