Association of Theological Institutions of Haiti (ATIH)

About ATIH

The Association of Theological Institutions of Haiti , known as ATIH, was formed in May 2010 by the January 12 Earthquake of Haiti by seven (7)  theological schools victims by the January 12  earthquake located in ten (10) departments and  in the rural and urban  areas of Haiti  to provide means for cooperation among the member institutions victims of  the earthquake  in the areas of student cross-registration, library access and acquisitions, interchange among faculty members in the disciplines of theological education, and communications between the  biblical schools of Haiti . Prior to the January 12 earthquake , these schools had only a few months  of successful ecumenical cooperation, primarily through the Departments  of Theological Schools in Haiti, the Association of Theological Institutions of Haiti, and the Library Coordination. In addition to ATIH, various agreements between two or more institutions further cooperation on the basis of Haiti  geographic proximity or an interest in specific theological programs .

The seven  schools that currently make up ATIH are accredited members of the Haitian  Association of Christian  Schools of Higher Education (HACUAS) established in Haiti . Each is affiliated with or sponsored by a denomination,  a religious organization, or several religious orders. Each offers professional degree programs for ministry at Bachelor and   master level  and in the future to  the  doctoral levels, and most also offer other academic degrees. All offer a variety of opportunities for continuing  Christian education for clergy and lay leaders, as well as conferences, lectures and other programs of interest to a wider public in ten departments of Haiti .

Together, the schools within ATIH offer a rich network of resources for theological education, making the association one of the outstanding centers of theological education in  Haiti and around the world. Available to the approximately 1500 students currently enrolled at its member schools are 12 faculty, about 350 courses offered annually, and library collections of 25.000 volumes and nearly 5,000 currently received periodical subscriptions are completely destroyed by the January 12 Earthquake 2010 in Port-au-Prince, Jacmel, Nippe, Leogane, Grand Goave and Petit Goave . Several schools have not any  theological bookstores. Some schools offer online courses materials and equipments are completely devastated by the earthquake of January 12, 2010 . ATIH  makes it possible for students and faculty to pursue their work, study, and reflection with people from many different cultural and theological traditions in the region of America , United States of America and Canada, in Asia, Latin America and Caribbean,  in Europa and Africa ....

ATIH  itself does not offer either courses or degrees. Application for enrollment must be made to one of the member institutions as Grace Evangelical Theological Seminary (STEG) / Seminaire de Theologie Evangelique de la Grace . An essential tool for cross-registration purposes, this catalog also includes information on the many resources for theological education available to students enrolled in the member schools of ATIH in ten Departments of Haiti . Many of the schools draw on the small  resources of other institutions of higher education and have relationships with the small  religious haitian  organizations and  small agencies in the  rural and urban areas of Haiti .
